Sunset Villas and Sunset Rooms & Apartments are located on the west coast of Crete, in Falassarna, famous for its spectacular sandy beach and crystal clear water. Falassarna bay has been awarded as the best beach of Crete and one of the best beaches of Europe in the past. The sand is white which makes the water colour tropical. The bay is divided by sand dunes and few rocks in several beaches. Sunset Villas are just 150 m away from the big beach which has a length of 1 km and width of 150 m. This beach hosts the most visitors of the area, but because of its length it never seems crowded.
In the northern part of the bay you find the remains of the ancient city of Falassarna. Named after the nymph Falassarni, the city had its peak in the Hellenistic period with an own coin at this time. The area was explored in the late 19th century by British travellers who discovered the harbour and the ruins of the ancient city. Since 1986 have started excavations in the area. The findings are exhibited in the Museum of Kissamos.
In Falassarna you find just two small supermarkets; one is less than 50 m away from Sunset Villas. In 5 km distance you reach the next village called Platanos where you can find a cashpoint and pharmacy. Kissamos is the nearest town with a lot of shops and big supermarkets.
